Drive Thru Common Sense

(In Cafes & fast food restaurants)

1.  Get off of your cell phone.
2.  Don't shout.  Most systems can pick up sounds fairly well.  A normal speaking voice will suffice.
3.  Know what you want before yo get to the speaker.
4.  Don't smoke at the windows.  they don't want to breathe your second hand smoke.  If you must keep it lit put it down in your ashtray, while you give them the money.
5.  Don't throw straw wrappers, receipts or other trash out of your window. their drive thru is not a trash recepticle.  It's not a drain either.  Don't empty your old soda out the car door.
6.  Don't order or add to your order at either window.  It just takes that much longer to get you out of there. 
7.  Don't get mad if they ask you to wait a second.  It means that the cars in front of you are going to be a little while.  If you really want to hurry and order so that you're food will be waiting until the cars move, so your food isn't fresh, go ahead.
8.  Listen to the person working.  If they say "...at the first window," don't whiz by to the second window.  They don't like to relay race the money and change back and forth between windows.
9.  Make sure you wait until thanked or told to go to the second window before doing so.  It's so rude to drive off while someone is trying to tell you something.  Likewise, don't leave the speaker until instructed to do so.
10. Don't try to talk to them at the first window.  they are trying to listen to the people at the speaker.
11. There are more people than you talking to them at the same time.  They might miss part of your order.  CHECK THE SCREEN OUT THERE!  Or they don't mind repeating the order back to you if you ask.
12. Try to have the money before you get to the window.  It shouldn't be a surprise, you know you have to pay.
13. Order water at the speaker!! Don't wait until you get to the second window.  It slows everybody down.
14. No seperate orders.  Order together or come inside.
15 IF YOU'RE CAR CAN'T PASS EMISSIONS, COME INSIDE.  IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW, CARBON MONOXIDE IS POISONOUS!!!!!
16. Please, no debit in drive thru.  It is soooooo slow.
17. If they ask you to hold on a second, don't start ordering. they'll just make you repeat it because they weren't ready.
18. Don't start ordering before they greet you. If you do, they'll say "hi" and make you start over just for the fun of it.
19. Don't say "hello" as soon as you get to the speaker.
20. Some trucks and bigger vehicles don't trip the senser.  If they don't answer for a while, they might not hear you.  Just come to the window.
21. Don't have your little kids order for you.  Most of them have voices that are so high pitched (especially when yelling) that their heads almost explode.
22. they can usually hear you from the second you pull up to the second you leave, there is no need to yell "Hello" or "Excuse me"!!
